. . . . . . . . . . . I may or may not have put my head in my hands. (No, I did. I really did.)

Elliot is exhausting. Truly, without some amazing mental acrobatics, Elliot is not going to be able to reconcile Vincent with the rest of the family. (That is, Elliot, Gilbert, and Yuri, because Vincent was with the (dead) majority in canon.) Elliot has only seen the tip of the iceberg when it comes to who Vincent is and what he has done, and he doesn't want Elliot to drag out everything he has ever done to satisfy himself. Justice, penance, forgiveness—Those are all for the purpose of self-satisfaction, and Vincent doesn't dabble in them; you can't undo the action, so anything else is an afterthought, a lie to the truth. Vincent knows that he has wronged countless people, and his reasons for those actions wouldn't hold water with anyone. What little he could explain, at least. Vincent is having figure out how to live without being able to erase his past, to exist just as he is, without apology, and he doesn't want Elliot of all people to put pressure on that point.

Vincent is also annoyed that of all the people that have lied and decieved Elliot, he has to be the one to be Elliot's testing ground to understanding the other half of the world that he lived in. He owes Ernest, Bernard, and the rest of them nothing, and he cultivated a certain distance in canon and a certain relationship in Aather . . . But all of that amounts to nothing once the cat is let out of the bag. Vincent hasn't ever explained himself fully to Yuri of all people, so Elliot had better learn to deal with half-truths and gaping holes in whatever Vincent decides to dole out.

Also, Vincent is not comfortable with Elliot's interest in Yuri. He had pushed Yuri to follow through on Elliot, the better choice between the two Nightrays clearly, when he was still trying to get rid of Yuri, but the rules have changed. Yuri is now Vincent's raison d'etre, but Elliot still remains the better of Vincent in every way; it's a precarious situation especially when balanced against Vincent's severe trust issues. Elliot is also not otherwise occupied, so it wouldn't be an understood situation like Vincent with Gilbert at all. Still, Yuri wants to lean in that direction, and he knows that Vincent will absolutely murder him if he tries to jump ship, so . . . That can happen, I guess . . .

Elliot's Yuri feelings, okay. Also, Leo feelings, I can ask two, shush!!
